Justin Bieber: A Thought Leader on Thought Leadership, seriously....

Pop sensation Justin Bieber was recently interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on NBC. The interview focuses on Bieber’s rise to fame through his "discovery" on YouTube by talent manager Scooter Braun, and on the social media dynamics that have fueled his career. As the interview indicates, Bieber is "a true product of the internet [and] the world's first social media superstar."

Bieber’s story may be the first of its kind, but it is by no means the last. Bieber's wild success can be seen as proof positive that self promotion, social media, and online video can be key ingredients in launching a career. The takeaway for other artists is clear: Use the power of the internet and social media to promote yourself and your work.

What's more, the strategies Bieber and Braun used to propel the young star to fame and keep him in the spotlight can be used by anyone, even non-artists.

As Francesco Rulli explains in a blog post about the interview,

"Justin Bieber's social media strategies and target marketing techniques are within the reach of any person with online access. Justin Bieber was discovered on YouTube and he consolidated his career on social media platforms. It is time to start thinking like a singer and teach Afghan children the social media strategy adopted by international pop stars. Afghan girls and boys can learn how to get their message out, consolidate their leadership, manage long tail keywords, monitor and quantify results." Read the full blog post here.
