Portfolios with Purpose Registration Now Open; SNACK NYC is named as charity for Mike Sweeney
Portfolios with Purpose, an annual non-profit stock selection competition in which each player competes on behalf of his/her favorite charity, has opened registration to compete in the 2013 competition. The goal of Portfolios with Purpose (PwP) is to inspire individuals to align themselves with worthwhile philanthropic causes and encourages charitable giving on a broader scale.

PwP reaches "beyond the hedge fund and finance community to everyone who wants to try investing, wants to compete, has a charity that they’re passionate about, and wants to be involved in a community of people that is trying to do good and have fun. PWP also allows hedge fund managers to promote themselves for the first time and reach people around the world who may be interested in learning more about the companies and how the hedge funds make money."
As founder Stacey Asher explains, PwP is “another way to take the philanthropic side of your life and social media and combine those to create a revolution together.” PwP unites the general public with some of the world's most renowned investors in an effort to bring global awareness to impactful philanthropic causes. Interested parties can register online through December 31. More information can be found at www.portfolioswithpurpose.org.
Mike chose SNACK NYC as his charity. SNACK, the Special Needs Activity Center for Kids, is the creation of New York mom and SNACK’s Executive Director, Jackie Ceonzo. In 2003, after being unable to find a fulfilling program for her son, Joey, whose disabilities fall on the autism spectrum, she worked with a team of professionals to create a place for special needs children with challenging behaviors to socialize and enjoy recreational activities while learning practical skills in a collaborative, fun and welcoming environment. Here is last year's video from SNACK.
